Title: Boson Sampling and Quantum Simulations in Circuit QED

Abstract: ‘Circuit QED’ is non-linear quantum optics extended to superconducting electrical circuits and represents a leading architecture for the eventual creation of large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computers. Recent remarkable theoretical and experimental progress in our ability to measure and manipulate the quantum states of individual microwave photons is leading to novel applications in quantum information processing. Recent experimental realizations of various ‘bosonic codes’ (cat, binomial and GKP) have successfully reached the threshold where quantum error correction begins to extend the lifetime of quantum information. I will discuss how the ability to make repeated quantum non-demolition (QND) measurements of photon numbers allow accurate quantum simulation of the vibrational spectra of small molecules using efficient boson sampling.

At around 2:40, the slide shows an operator U_m inside the box. The way it is drawn, it looks like it operates only on the one qubit |0>, but the operator U_m contains the cavity operator P_m in the exponent as well, so U_m should act on both |psi> and |0>, shouldn't it?
