"Trope Fatigue" is real. A shallow dive into many pools doesn't make a good swimmer.
Consider "How to read a book" by Mortimer J Adler

You're right
Just because someone wrote a book doesn't mean that it's something that's true or intelligent or worth reading
Look at "The population bomb"
By Paul Elrich from 1968 and the fear he caused
Johnny Carson had him on and that increased its popularity and people reading it
This book was based on his visit to Delhi which at the time was very populated and increased but when you compared population and lack of food to other places it was totally wrong
Now look... Our population is dwindling and in trouble...
His mindset was wrong
But people believed what he was saying

" O that cunning plan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish.
But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God."

I love how you play Italian music in the background of a totally French name! And I could not agree more, when people continuously read the exact same subject over and over without trying to understand the other side just makes you more of a moron and somebody that's indoctrinated kind of like the modern day left! It's always the conservatives who know politics and government and the extremists on the left who know nothing but they're woke talking points and still, it's minimal at best!, God bless brother! God bless

You need to remember that the Catholic church, for many years, did not like people even reading the Bible. Reading is a very good idea. An intelligent person can read something and not be persuaded by it. They can also put it down and not finish it if it is nonsense.
It is a very good idea to not watch too many videos and to limit social media.

I listen to audiobooks daily at work using my library app. Ive listened to a lot of good books and classics. But some classics aren't good (Old Man and the Sea), and there is A LOT A LOT A LOT of modern books that I can't believe get published, I mean they're just soooo badly written! Its really nice to find modern books that are written well.

you may like this, Michael:

look up the difference between modern and classical art on google, while pondering what art is. you should do a segment about what art even is and whymodern art is not art.

I like the final conclusion. As a whole, I don't think reading every day is a bad thing. Of course there is such thing as too much reading, because we're meant to not only have moderation in all things, but also we must act on the knowledge we receive. History books are of particular importance, because they double as a story and lessons learned. I've been studying the Roman Empire recently, and it's become evident that they had many weaknesses, but they also had tremendous strengths. They got to a point where life was so good that they could dedicate a good portion of their population to the arts, and culturally, they considered that important. From that came some of the greatest thinkers of all time, the rise of Christianity, and artwork that would last for a millennium to come.

It's kind of interesting to see two very different view points from two (seemingly) very intelligent people and Christians (one Catholic one Protestant).

Charlie Kirk suggests: Read! Read! Read! Read a hundred books every year!
Michael Knowles: Read less and stick to carefully selected authors!

We all need to read more. The Bible included! Reading less helps no one, it only brings ignorance
