Military mission in care homes cost $53M

The military mission to long-term care homes hit by COVID-19 in Ontario and Quebec cost the federal government approximately $53 million, according to figures obtained by CBC News from the Department of National Defence. Senior military officers told a House of Commons committee on Monday that a number of lessons were learned from the deployment, lessons that will come in handy should further missions be necessary during the second wave.

That is the total NATIONAL figure that went into the mission to fight Covid from April to September by the military. It is not the exclusive reflection of the military deployment to the care homes in Quebec and Ontario that we seen in the news, although it was apart of the mission and only reflects a small fraction of that dollar figure. Assistance was concurrently being provided across the entire country which did not get as much attention. My guess is that most of the expenses were in pay and O&M. There is no way in hell that it costed 53 million over a 6 month span to send the army to care homes...common sense.
