Hi Spacecats, I'm Dr Maggie Lieu and welcome to my channel, where you can find all things space, astronomy and physics! ESA's Euclid space telescope just dropped its first major batch of public data – the Quick Data Release (Q1). The data reveals millions of galaxies in its first look at the dark universe. Discover stunning deep fields, new nebulae like the Robin's Egg Nebula (NGC 1360) and gravitational lensing insights. Let's take a look!

Thanks for explaining the calibration function of this initial deep field data set, makes a lot of sense

first data release is already revealing so much gravitational lensing, deep fields, and even new nebulae like NGC 1360. It’s amazing how detailed the images of Messier 78 and Abell 2764 are. Space Mog, your coverage makes it even more exciting. Can’t wait to see what else Euclid uncovers in the years ahead thank you Maggie

That's an amazing amount of data in such a short period. I can only imagine what awaits us from it's further discoveries. Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful info to us, Dr. Lieu.

Wow, and this is just the first week! 4.5 million galaxies should keep you busy for a while! 😊😊

That's an amazing piece of kit. Can't wait to see all the future papers written from this wonderful dataset.

Thanks for the update on Euclid Dr Maggie Lieu. 🙂 Great images. Will Euclid eventually make multiple pass of the same patch of sky to confirm DESI’s data about the decreasing rate of dark energy? I can’t wait for see more data coming from Euclid.

It looks like we’re in for a good few years of fantastic data! Who knows what we might find out

2:16 Thanks, but perhaps you can also explain how planetary rings can be offset from a great circle.

According to ESA SKY PN K1-16 is just outside of the FOV of the Euclid image.
