Metering Diaphragm.

Thanks for watching. This pole saw was put up in storage for years and now it won't start. Of course the carburetor is the problem but we're going to try and save it if we can. It doesn't go well.

Excellent video. I had a feeling it was the carburetor, but it always helps to check with YouTube before things get torn apart. Thanks for taking the time to make the video. Very helpful.

I had a plugged up carb on my Stihl line trimmer, so I bought an OEM replacement for $32 and it runs great. I now use only premixed 50:1 fuel in my 2-cycle equipment. No more troubles!

I have had great luck with aftermarket carburators. Especially for the Stihl brand.
They are cheap and come with more than you actually need.
Thank you for your video.

Thank you for the video. I know a new overseas carby is only $10 but would have spent a little more time cleaning out the original Warbro. Cheers from a land down under 🇦🇺.

I usually go straight to replace the carburetor, nowadays because of the internet, , a carburetor can be purchased for the price of an air filter at the local dealership

Would try to rebuild original carb once, then if no luck, just replace. Nice work here!!

Personally I would try to save the carburetor by soaking the body of it in fuel injector or carburetor cleaner or also buy a small ultrasonic cleaner that they use to clean fuel. Injectors with also for future use.

Professionally, I'd replace the carburetor on a customers machine as it's more cost efficient & there's less chance of warranty returns at my cost if I was still repairing them for a living.

The piston rings in that pole saw look like that they're almost brand new from the exhaust port side !

Worked on stihl stuff a lot That’s all I own And I work on all my friends and landscapers and them aftermarket carburetors aren’t very good they work for about a day and then you got to constantly adjusting them go to your stihl dealer and spend 35 bucks and buy the factory carburetor if not get on eBay and find a factory carburetor if that is not possible soak the carburetor in simple green overnight and then rebuild it

I would’ve tried clean the carburetor before installing a new one and would of ordered a brand new carburetor just in case I wouldn’t have had much success with the first one all in all you did what any technician would’ve done which is the right thing to do

Depends on the price of the carb or if it’s available. Some carbs they just don’t make anymore.

I have an ultra-sonic cleaner so a good, hot 30 minute soak would be in order!

Do you still have this pole saw? Have you ever figured out what the two holes are which are located in the clamping assembly just in front of the rearmost set of clamping screws? I’m talking about the gear housing assembly at the attachment end of the saw. The one I’m working on threw me for a loop while researching for service manual and IPL because the powerhead is an FC75, which is an edger. Now I’m working with two manuals and IPL’s from two different (but compatible) machines. I discovered the primer bulb was starting to crack but that’s only one of several issues. Primary customer complaint was leaking oil. I mentioned in your cleaning video that this one was dirtier than yours. MUCH dirtier! Also no spark arrestor and a hole in the muffler. Entire saw (except for pole assembly) cleaned with old fuel and mostly disassembled. Carb disassembled completely including strainer and internal adjusting screws. Soaked 90 minutes in fuel, placed in small jar with Dawn/Simple Green and water and placed in my new ultrasonic cleaner (in which I only have tap water) and run for 25 minutes. Carb parts rinsed out and set on furnace to dry overnight. OEM muffler ordered. Carb reassembled. More later as I continue to work on it.

I use my ultra sonic cleaner one time, if that does not do it, New carb is in order. Great video.

I would have also checked the piston on the intake side after removing the carb, and rechecked the compression after running it a bit to see if there had been any change.

I'd put a kit in the original carb. Always worked for me. GBWYou!

Some people say that taking off the spark arrestor screen will overheat the engine on your lawn equipment. Is it true? In your opinion, what does taking the spark arrestor screen do to the engine?

Super weird this video came out so long before the cleaning and Q&A. Is this a different saw, or do you just record videos and upload them in the order and timing you see fit? That's not necessarily a bad thing, I'm simply curious. Thank you.
