January's 2020 USED PC Parts Hunt - Buying UNTESTED $100 PCs

Stocking up is the name of the game coming into 2020. Though I have come the realisation that local GPU prices are just simply overpriced, it's so bad to the point where it's better value per frame to even buy graphics cards new over used.... (especially in the case of the 1070).
Though of course we will always need the juicy stuff like untested pcs, motherboards, power supplies, ram, etc. So it's time to look for those parts on good ol' gumtree and facebook marketplace to see what is available.

I don't much of the relations between Les and you(whether it's friends or aquaintances), and I'm not trying to be terribly invasive since I'm only suggesting this based on what you film and talk about on your channel. However, with as much as I've seen you talking to Les over the years, you literally just need to randomly show up in his shop and just hang out. Like just get lunch(or a beer) with him and chill.

Or, you could make or film Les a promo or commercial outlet for his storefront. Make an awesome collaborative project for his and your business. Everybody would be happy, and I personally think it would be nice :)

Either way, awesome parts hunt. I'm trying to get back into the groove of selling units myself again. I slowed down in August, yet now is good time to start getting back into it. And also, used GPU prices are high. It's been at high prices over here in the United States(State of Alabama) since October and has been high prices since then. I honestly believe I'm the only one who has been selling used parts (not complete units) since then cause my prices are actually good used prices that I got for cheap and somebody else will too XD

Like the videos, Mr. Tech YES Man. Keep it up! Also, get enough rest! Not just physical but mentally too! :D

Your channel has helped me monumentally with making very nice PC's and I started what is now essentially a home business from 200 dollars and a lot of Tech Yes Lovin'

Thanks for all the advice. Your advice helps me sell PC's faster than most builders in my local market because they don't have the mindset to do the used parts performance.

25:02 Noctua NH-D14? That's a find! You can buy an AM4 bracket for it pretty cheap. There were also brackets for socket 2011.

Best deal ever for me was a r5 1600, thermaltake j24 case with 2 Corsair red fans, a b350 am4 mobo and a Corsair cx550 semi modular psu, all for $160 Aussie dollars

That is no small amount of courage to take multiple untested $100 system gambles from a brand new source, Bryan! And you came out on top on that deal. That was certainly my favorite pickup this month.

I still use that nzxt phantom full tower case today even though it's like, 6 or 7 years old. I love the aesthetic, and I even bought the side panel with a window cutout from nzxt before they discontinued them. Absolute banger with tons of room for drives and extra fans. Not a big fan of the current "square plain black box made of glass" cases that are popular now. Only thing I wish the phantom had was a power supply shroud, but I'm too cheap to get a custom one machine'd for it. Looking forward to seeing what you build in it!

The T3600 with E5-1650 is sweet. I have the T5600 with dual E5-2689 and it is a beast. Got the Desktop Server in a company decommissioning program for employees(free!!!, zero book value). It came with the Dell OEM 825W PSU! The CPU's were a $140 upgrade (matched pair) from E5-2667's that came with the PC. The GTX970 I purchased separately at the time (late 2018) for $120. For $260 in total, not a bad setup for productivity, rendering and 1080P med-high gaming. CB R15=2200 (2x8C/2x16T, all core 3.3 Ghz).

When we cleaned out the lab a year later, another T5600 with bad I/O was binned. It was a shell (no CPU's, no PSU, etc.), but the CPU fans were still there, along with extra OEM power cables, so I pulled those from the bin outside, too! These CPU fans are proprietary and expensive as hell to replace.

That 2400 MHz CL 10 RAM would have cost an arm and a leg new ... Great find.
