As a retired Tour player, I can tell you that the “hip bump” is something that all good players do, but as you guys said, it’s not huge lateral slide with your hips, its a lateral weight shift through your feet from a good pivot that will “bump” your lead butt cheek towards the target for a split second from the top of the backswing. Nicklaus is probably one of the best visual examples of this motion in action.

One thing that I realize just about every time I watch one of your videos, is that I’ve been trying to correct “faults” that aren’t really faults, but is something even pros do. You guys are the best!

I love how you guys don't just debunk the wrong notions that we all tend to have but always link it back to the right cues and feels we must have in order to get back on track. Thanks to you I'm on a quest to a simple, sound and athletic golf swing. Now the problem is people do like their buzzwords and their golf clichés, and even club pros tend to correct small issues with a quick fix, missing the root cause and making for a glorious comeback to crappy shots...

Great video guys! That hip bump has been taught for years! Just like you Shaun all I had was golf digest.

Get it. Like! Looks the right thing for irons and rescues. Please could you clarify the approach for 3 wood and Driver. I suspect something to be modified for the 'Levellers'. Thanks, regards David

I, too, learned the hip bump which led to a sway, which let to inconsistent ball striking and big pull hooks. Hard to get rid of. Thanks for the visual. Now to get out and work on it. Thanks guys.

Love you guys and this video. This move helps me with power, stopping the arms from going fast early and importantly drops club into the slot. Thank you. Most helpful with driver I found.

I developed hip problems and a chronic oblique strain from over swinging with too much hip thrust, so this video is just what I needed.

Keep up the good work, I like the way the two of you present interesting aspects of the Golf Swing, nice interaction.

This is a great video explains it well. I hit some of the most solid wedge shots with this method for the downswing. It is a great swing thought instead of thinking about the backswing. It just takes some reps to get the feel of it. I am working with the driver do you have any good drills I can use on the range to feel this downward swing with a longer club.

Another good one and thanks guys! I will remember one comment by Mike " bump youtself" as a guide point.

This is a great visual on what to do correctly. I struggle with staying behind (longer clubs) and my shoulders are not over my hips, then I block it right or hook it. I'm gonna work on that feel at the range.

Very helpful to demonstrate that the hip bump can be wildly exaggerated. Thanks.

Good video! I have problems with too much sway forward getting head & body forward and causing some darn awful shots. How do I bump forward then get the head to go backward as you describe?
I recently have been thinking about turning left hip behind me at the start with some success. Does the amount of side bend at setup affect what and how I do things?
Do you have other videos / drills to get me to proper impact?
Thank You
Steve

That is the first time that I have seen the transition described in that way. Great stuff.
