Lumix GH7 REAL Autofocus TEST - IS THIS IT?!

Today we're testing out the new Panasonic Lumix GH7 and it's brand new Autofocus system: Phase detection!
After using the GH6 for 2 years I was tired of having out of focus clips, so I decided to purchase the new GH7. I was really excited expecting the autofocus to be AMAZING, but sadly that was not the case...

Hi Paul, I am a filmmaker and I work for public television in my country and other platforms. I have experience in film and television. I use the gh5, the gh6 and the blackmagic 4k. Autofocus is not a problem if you make the right marks. It's a little cumbersome but it can be done when you record yourself. It is also important to work with the right optics. Personally, an option to consider, although the type of image is different, is to record your programs with a professional camera like the Canon xa75... it is a suggestion. Thanks for your opinion. Personally, I am very happy with my three tools when making documentaries. I can't complain. If I have to spend my money I will do it on some cinema opticians. Greetings from Spain.

As a filmmaker not my problem most of the time. Only wide angle shots sometimes

True! Same problem in photo. In animal eye detect human. Always the far eye. I have g9 ii same autofocus.

Thank you for being honest! Was seriously considering investing lumix system, but for what I do I might have to wait for the r6iii and see if it has clog2

All bodies revert to contrast AF in low light.

The improved autofocus is a joke. I just ruined a couple of videos thinking it would be any good.

Excellent video! It's a shame you don't have a different brand camera to compare it to in the slider test. I was wondering why no one else is doing sideways AF tests... Also Zyyne's really quite natural! Your presentation looks a lot more natural than a year ago as well. What happened??? haha

il fuori fuco potrei dire d'impatto che è una carenza di profondità di campo ...ma mi astengo e ti dico che è un bug di lumix gh ho notato lo stesso problema con il fuoco di gh6 ha un problema nel back focus io ho parzialmente risolto dandogli un limite di fuoco prima dell'infinito.. sembra che nel mio caso le cose siano migliorati parecchio ...non ho risolto ma migliorato ..certo per scene in studio puoi provare ad escludere con regolazione di fuoco parte maggiore front focus .. io non lo posso fare perchè giro immagini più da reportage dove non ho i tempi di regolazione ma è un mordi e fuggi.
per Sony più luminosa? mi sembra normale visto che confronti un FF con un M43.. forse bisognerebbe aspettare una S1marK II se arrivasse con un sensore scalabile come quello di Leica la comprerei subito
