The University of Colorado sponsors Phet which originally stood for Physics Education Technology. In 2001, Carl Wieman won the Nobel Prize in Physics, with Eric Cornell and Wolfgang Ketterle for fundamental studies of the Bose-Einstein condensate. Afterwards, Wieman became interested in improving science education. People remembered the simulations that he included in his talks the most. He used funds from a grant from the National Science Foundation to improve how physics was taught and learned. Phet has delivered over 110 million simulations via their website. This lab activity is an example of the excellent material that is available at the University of Colorado website.
We will use the projectile motion lab to investigate the x and y coordinates of projectile motion and how Vo and the projected angle affect trajectory. We will also experiment with various masses to see if this has an effect as well. Copyrighted video N. J. Walker 2013.
