The 1968 Romeo and Juliet will always be the best movie to me.

I freaking love when they do remakes of old movies and plays. . . it keeps the story alive for new generations to come!

Olivia Hussey is Juliet and nobody could replace. Lenonard Whiting is Romeo! The 1968 one was the best, I loved the 1996 one as well but the 1968 one got my heart. The fact that Olivia and Lenonard actually dated is amazing and can we just talk about how good Lenonards ass was in the wedding night scene YASSS. But still the 1968 one is classic

You know its not actually his face that Juliet falls in love with, its his voice.  He's never supposed to take off his mask.  She's not even supposed to know what he looks like until the balcony scene and at the balcony scene she recognizes him by his voice.  Shakespeare did a lot to try impress upon the audience that Romeo and Juliet had a divine kind of love but modern movies strip that away and make it pretty girl meets pretty boy.  Yeah their young and impulsive and they die but if you play it the way Shakespeare wanted it I'd argue its much more impactful as a piece.

I'm so glad this movie was made, I just started teaching 9th grade English and this movie would go perfect with No Fear Shakespeare.

Seriously after i saw Leonardo Dicaprio as Romeo, all the other Romeo's are as handsome as a dead fish.

(Ps: I'm kidding, obviously all the others are handsome as well but Leo is just fucking gorgeos. Let's all agree.
