main difficulty foreigners face when visiting Athens and Piraeus is the fact that it involves a lot of walking uphill... you need good running shoes to move around, forget sandals and heels... Same deal in Lisbon and San Fransisco old town

Piraeus (or even Athens) is definitely not the oldest city in the world. That title usually is given to Jericho. Not all income in Greece is taxed as much as you say. Any salary income below €8.636 per year is not taxed. Income tax from property starts at 15%.

Glyfada is a fantastic place and is close to Athens and Piraeus. Why just choosing Piraeus ?
