Haboob 1971 Haboob

Показать описание
Haboob, which was founded in Germany in 1970 under the name Tambarin, is one of the bands that did not make good use of the opportunity they had. The frontman of the band, Jimmy Jackson, who we know from bands such as Amon Düül II, Passport, Embryo, Utopia (not Todd Rundgren's Utopia), could not stand out despite all his efforts. That's why there isn't much information about them.
Jackson, who founded Tambrain somewhere in between after Amon Düül II and Passport, was not satisfied with the progress of the band, so he changed the band members and named his new band Haboob. The band's name means desert winds. As can be understood from the name and the camel on the cover, the band's style is in a place where Psychedelic Rock tries to meet with orientalism. But don't expect something like Agitation Free, they are not that good.
Although they were founded in Germany and are listed under the Krautrock genre, all three members of the band are American. These Americans, who were there because of the musical diversity and potential of Germany at that time and tried to turn this into an opportunity, produced an average album. The structure of the album is a bit complicated. Although it is psychedelic, there are also Blues, Soul and Jazz Rock pieces. Although this inconsistency is a bit disturbing, we should also point out that the album is not bad.
Basically, we can say that the concept of the album is based on Jimmy Jackson's keyboard games. This is more about creating atmosphere than standing out. This effort to create atmosphere, combined with a modified and exaggerated vocal structure, has yielded good results in some tracks. The drums added on top of it, which capture solid rhythms with exaggerated beats, sometimes make it feel like they're making things crazy.
