The Alkyonides Gulf is situated at the North East side of the Corinth Gulf. It's a 20 nautical miles long gulf surrounded by beaches and bay.
In the southwestern area there is a cluster of islets: the Alkyonides Islands, also known as Kala Nisia (literal translation: "Nice Islands"). These islands include Daskalio, Prasonisi and Zoodochos Pigi. On the largest there is a little abandoned  monastery, dedicated to Zoodochos Pigi.  The  church , still used, is the only building in good conditions and worthwhile a visit.
The north side of the Gulf is plenty of bay and cove, but the bottom is not always a good holder, especially when strong catabatic winds are blowing. We spend two days moored at the first buoy in Ayios Ioannis , a little secluded cove. There are three buoys, free of charge and a good taverna!
