I've noticed a trend with the few AJR songs that work for me (including this one). They avoid the gimmicks. No obnoxious pitch-shifting, no out of place 808s, ect. When they're just focused on writing a good song, and aren't concerned with all the "bells and whistles, " I feel that's when they shine.

One thing I’ve noticed about AJR’s fanbase is that as much as you hate on them, a lot of the AJR fanbase are in the brad fanbase and are super chill

As someone who had openly talked a lot before about how I didn't like how you expressed your hate towards the band, I want to say, it's not just that you didn't hate this as much as other songs, but the apology for it was honestly really nice to hear. I'll be honest, and, a tad bit real here, seeing a lot of the pretty much toxic hate towards it just kind of made me feel a bit hurt. Not because people didn't like my favorite band, I mean, everyone has their own opinions, and not everyone is going to like what I like, but moreso because they REALLY hated the band. Like, treated the band horribly for, basically just existing. And considering how I use AJR for a lot of coping, and a sort of therapy to a lot of my life, with main examples of songs being "Sober Up", "100 Bad Days" and "The DJ Is Crying For Help", seeing everyone send hate to the band's music, treating them terribly, just made me feel like, if they hate what they write...do my problems, even matter?

I sound like I'm overreacting a bit, and taking it too seriously probably, but it was legitimately how I was feeling. And it was a lot of your reviews and statements towards the band too that really set it off too. Especially the statements towards Jack in particular. And that in itself gave me a very negative stigma towards you as well.

But seeing this video, really made me happy. It was really nice to hear you apologize about all of that, and to hear you compliment the fanbase as well. It makes me feel a lot better after everything. So, thank you for that.

I gotta admit, this ain’t half bad. Those horns almost have a ska feel to them. Straightforward enough, not too corny, genuinely good lyrical themes. 7/10

As an AVID AJR listener, This was the most unexpected Brad Taste in Music video I’ve ever seen, and I’m glad he can tolerate this song! This is absolutely one of my favorite songs by them.

As a huge fan of AJR, I've always seen the criticism as fair. I do think that the tracks lines can be "cringe" and the Instrumentals are a bit bloated, but I've always loved the sound of both Jack and the instruments. I personally think while they did take their jig from others, they truly created something new and catchy with their sound. Truly some of the best pop songs ever for me.

It’s kinda tragic that I see a lot of unironic crap thrown at AJR fans’ way, considering how nice they are. I’ve seen people meme on fans of Weezer, Death Grips and the like, but I’ve seen a lot of people genuinely look down upon AJR fans as if liking dumb basic alt-pop is incomprehensible and something to genuinely get angry over. Not really a fan of the trio myself, but it’s done in a way I never see with any other fandom to a degree that really doesn’t feel ironic.
