United with the Father
Jesus came to unite us with God. Jesus said, “he that believeth on me, believeth NOT on me, but on him that sent me” (John 12:44) and “whosoever shall receive me, receiveth NOT me, but him that sent me” (Mark 9:37). Jesus is saying when we receive his words and actions, we are actually receiving the Father, not Jesus, because all of the words Jesus speaks is the will of God, the Father. Jesus is our only bridge to God and we must know them BOTH; Jesus said “and this is life eternal, that they may know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3). If we change this, we are not of God (Revelation 22:18).
