Hetfield still sounding awesome today, but the S&M times were definitely the peak of his vocal performance since the existence of Metallica. Love this album. Epic masterpiece.

how do I not see anyone talking about how kirk notices Kamen behind him and moves so that they're back to back and starts smiling while he's playing the solo at 6:36 it's so cool

This is my favorite version of this song. When the darkness riff starts, I can't explain it but sounds amazing! Also the extra stuff that James does like his "No no no no!" I also like the transition from "oh God help me, hold my breath as I wish for death."

I bought a copy of S&M on 31st Dec 2001. Since then, I have played it every New Year's Eve. I always get goosebumps at 4:43. Happy New Year folks!
