Hi Alicia. My gf owns blueberry fields in NS & NB, Canada. That white powder is called "Bloom" and it's all natural. It's a waxy coating produced by the blueberry to protect it from the sun, insects and bacteria. It also seals in the blueberries natural moisture. It keeps them fresh longer and it usually means they were picked at the perfect time as well and in dry temp not damp :)

Hi Alicia, just an idea for the bacon. You can actually brush on maple syrup before you cook it in the oven. Or you can take a tablespoon of maple syrup and 1/2 cup of suger and make a maple sugar to sprinkle over the bacon before you cook it. It is something we have done in the past when we have not been able to find maple bacon. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your beautiful family.
