I just play the songs on my big speakers, and add the original song/instrumental afterwards behind my vocals... If I muted the instrumental, you would hear all kinds of feedback, so I try to keep my speakers as far away as I can, yet barely loud enough for me to hear it.
I also use a loud clicker to keep me on beat.
