Hey Home Menders! Dustin shows how to cut and install oak wooden thresholds for a new floor. There is nothing worse than an awesome floor with a cheesy transition....That means no carpet trim, laminate paper thresholds or no transition at all. You can cut and install solid oak, stained to match your floor that looks like a top dollar installation for a fraction of the cost of pre-finished material. Don't forget to check out the tool box below for some cool stuff! You can do it!

YOU'RE SO AWESOME! I spent the winter month's giving my entire kitchen a DIY facelift from top to bottom! I'm just now today finishing my new vinyl flooring and didn't know what to do about the transition's, which I have 3 of, ...one goes from the new vinyl, to a carpeted bedroom, another from new vinyl, to vinyl (same level) in bathroom, and the 3rd, new vinyl to ceramic tile foyer and I was starting to panic having coming this far and wondering what I was able to put down! You just saved me a TON of undue I commend you and LOVE your video's and you as a person are so cool, ....excellent musical intro too! I'm a 54 yr old rocker and always will be :) Thanks a million!!!! Audrey

You always have the best videos, man. To the point, but also showing where the big pitfalls are and where I can safely save a buck. You make my home projects so easy.

Dude! Good editing. All the good stuff, no bullshit. Covered everything I need and a little more. Simple explanations, kept it real and appealing. It was more like I was asking a friend or neighbor, not a stuffy online guru! CHEERS!

When i bought my house, i hired some craigslist guys to install my laminate floor. They did an ok job with the floor, but for reasons pertaining to their poor work ethic, i let them go with the transitions still remaining. They've been in my garage for 6 months, and i'm using these social isolation days to do projects. Thresholds today. I noticed i had both T-transitions and the step-transitions still in the box. Youre video did a perfectly fine job of explaining what i've got, and how to install them. Time to go to work. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

I wish you had shown the cuts (especially the rounded one). I really appreciate the video. I have put down floors in my entire house but I had to take it up in the laundry room and have never had to do a reducer transition. I got stuck on my last row of floor because I thought I might need space like a t-molding. This was a great video and answered my questions

Those transitions turned out great. I didn’t even realize there was any type available other than that gold metal transition. These look so nice.

I was about to special-order transitions to match my flooring, but will be taking a trip to Home Depot to check out their unfinished options. I happen to have a can of stain that matches the baseboard and doors, so thanks for the idea!

Thanks. That took a lot of the mystery out of those thresholds.

Hey amazing man!!!! You are totally awesome. I want let you know that you help me saved thousands of $$$, with one of your videos, how to replace chain fence and add a wood fence. Thank you so so very much! Because the saved amount money for the fence I was able to replace 910 sq ft carpet and buy a new modern look vanity with quartz cabinet for my master bathroom. I am a first buyer house, and also I need assistance how to replace, and install a vanity bathroom and install the faucet. My master bathroom has a carpet and I need to install a tile, I do not know if I can go with stick and peel, or porcelain tile. Thank you!

Hi. :) I’m installing vinyl plank flooring today in the kitchen. The living room is already done. I’ll be starting from the far end of the kitchen and coming to meet the living room. I don’t have the T piece yet but want to go as far as possible today. I’m seeing online that I should leave a 1 to 1 1/4 inch gap and that sounds insane. Wouldn’t it just be 1/4 or maybe 3/8 in order to accommodate just the middle lower part of the T? The rest of it sits on top of the flooring right? Thanks for any insight!
