Nice video. It's always helpful watching someone with more experience showing the proper way of doing things.

I have the problems as you and now half a master with one of those profiles. We had a silicone man (I think he also had flesh and bones) in on one of our jobs and he used a profiled piece of wood that done the same thing with excellent results. Thanks for a great video Roger.

I like the silicone spatula. Well done. Most difficult sealing job I've had is the inside rim of a cast iron sink in a granite counter top. The pro type finer ratcheting dispensers really do help to apply a more consistent bead. Thanks for the informative video.

I was a window fitter for a few years, and there you can practice easily, simply because some brickwork gaps are simply massive, and you can pump away, and learn how to do it, because afterward, we would put quadrant plastic trim around that they needed a very tidy slim fill with the same mastic, And i might add that i have used this same method to seal around baths and shower trays, window fitters quadrant, a perfect seal and a really good finish, .

Good tips. Good sealanting does have a lot to do with how well the tiles have been laid too, with a nice big tile like that you have a longer straight edge, with smaller tiles you will be fighting with the grout line so it's very hard to get that perfect Seam line without touching up with a finger. I use the fugi kit, they do a new one which takes into account the grout lines.

There are professional "mastic men" who apply silicones to windows, kitchens, bathrooms etc. They are siliconing as a full-time job, they do a super neat job & do it really fast!

What's the best method for sealing larger gaps between the tray and the wall?

What's your opinion on using a wet finger? The tool is better option for me. Using a finger can push skin particles into the silicon which should have anti fungal properties for a bathroom. When the silicon goes mouldy it's growing on the skin particles not the silicon initially.

After years of watching the pros do it in schools, hospitals etc, I always use soapy water in a spray gun and the plastic tools. Oh and plenty of wet wipes!

Two way corners are pretty simple. Tricky challenge is the 3-way corner.

Super interesting as ever!! I love the tip of leaving residue until the next day, I'm always tempted to remove it immediately ;) Also i push the gun and you guys were pulling it, am I doing it wrong or doesn't it matter? I find pushing the gun gives a cleaner finished edge to my much more amateur attempts.

Ok, good stuff, but how about the clear silicone between glass shower panels? Just doing one now. Advice before committing would be WONDERFUL. TVM from a UK DIYer.

Yes it was entertaining. Is there a repository of any other shows you were on in the past, TV?

Great video Roger! I could do with replacing the silicone around my shower tray as it's started to go black in places. Can you recommend a good sealant that's resistant to this?

I'm lucky & never had a problem with sealing etc.... Soft and gentle is the way to go, so many people do a nice line, then kill it with a fat heavy finger.

Blather it on. Spray with soapy water. Get a 1mm packer an scrape of an excess. Then get a wonder wipe to remove any residue. Jobs good.

It's all about the quality of the silicone I wouldn't go near the one you were using ...
