at last a video that explains the b screw adjustment. I have an engwe ebike that had the original 14/28 freewheel. I currently have now a 11/28 but just purchased a drift maniac 11/34. because the bike is quite heavy, 2 batteries and the kitchen sink lol. You're not allowed throttle and pulling away was a bit tricky and having an 11t meant no ghost pedaling at speed. hopefully now I can fit that 11/34. thanks for the video much appreciated❤

Inspired by this and similar vids, I changed the 11-28 for a 11-34 on my Felt CX bike. Kept the short/med cage 105 but used the Road Link and also subbed a 34 tooth chainwheel for the 36. Didn't even need to adjust the chain length. Now I have the 1:1 lowest ratio. The rest is up to me.

Very good information. I currently need the extra gear of 34t on rear as I am climbing steeper grade mountains. I'm however using a R8000 ultegra front derailleur and rear derailleur in mechanical setup. My front is a compact chain ring set. It's been since 2018 since I used the 34t rear cassette, so I needed a refresher of what is allowed so I came here to this video. Thank you for this.

This re-assures me for my upcoming installation of 11-34t cassette to my 105 groups with Shimano 105 GS derailed to complete the change to use my Cannondale synapse carbon disc for gravel. Bke accommodates wide tires, just wanted to bring the 105 gearing up to the max for the gravel climbing so I'll end up with 50/34/ 11-34 or 1:1 34/34. So now the Winter bike has a use in the summer and takes away the temptation to buy a gravel bike for a few rides a year. Great video!!

The short cage is really a medium cage. Not like the short cages we ran in the good old days.

Great video mate :) I run an 11-34 with my DA 9150. Runs flawlessly, even on the 50 front (tho I don’t cross chain the 50/34). My wife runs and older 6800 Di2 system. Was able to also get it to run a 11-34 with a swap to medium cage a friend had and a roadlink I had 👍🏼

This was brilliant! This saved me having to buy a new derailleur. New chain is much easier and cheaper. Thank you.

Thanks, I looked at that and it led me here. I’ll research to see if it will work. I go long so afraid of mechanicals miles out you see. Btw excellent channel 👍

So funny story 😅😅 I just installed a 11 - 36 CS-M771 cassette right now with a Taigra short cage derailleur. It actually works ok, the front is 42 - 52. Using the 52 front and 36 back doesn't sound that good though. But avoiding that I just went for a nasty hill climb bike and it's good. I actually have the Tiagra mid cage derailleur coming so will be changing to that and also replacing the 42 front with a 39 :)

I just got a brand new gravel bike with 11-34 cassette and “Motobecane” (now a Taiwan company) managed to achieve NO clearance between the cog and the derailleur in the lowest gear. The cassette and pulley teeth are trying to go through the same link at the same time!

Very informative video. I purchased an ss ultegra r8knwith an 11-28 cassette. I was thinking to change to an 11-32 but after watching this, I would go for a 34. I will have to measure the chain if I have to extend. Following your channel 👍🏻
