What's rather strange is BOTH of these games got delayed! And look how similar these explanations for the delay are, first up Rockstar Games:

Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.

We know this is about four months ("about four months" implying it was supposed to be released in April which was the same as Cyberpunk 2077 🤔) later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.

"We have important news regarding Cyberpunk 2077's release date we'd like to share with you today.

Cyberpunk 2077 won't make the April release window and we're moving the launch date to September 17th, 2020.

We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there's still work to be done. Night City is massive - full of stories, content and places to visit, but due to the sheer scale and complexity of it all, we need more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing. We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our crowning achievement for this generation and postponing launch will give us the precious months we need to make the game perfect.

Expect more regular updates on progress as we get closer to the new release date.

BIG UPDATE: Cyberpunk 2077 just got delayed again to November 19th 2020 LOL
Rockstar Games also released Grand Theft Auto V on PS4 and Xbox One on November 18th 2014 1 day difference xD

To make the connection to these games EVEN stronger: Cyberpunk 2077 released it's teaser trailer in 2013 the same year Grand Theft Auto V launched, also the main character's name in Cyberpunk 2077 is V.

LOL ANOTHER UPDATE: Cyberpunk 2077 just got delayed AGAIN to December 10th 2020! This is getting ridiculous!

Once again ANOTHER update: Cyberpunk 2077 just launched and it was a COMPLETE DISASTER! the review scores aren't that impressive: 9/10 from IGN, 7/10 from GameSpot, 85 on Metacritic looks like it was Cyberjunk 1977 after all...

Grand Theft Auto V got 10/10 from IGN, 9/10 from GameSpot and a 97 on Metacritic.

Even if cyberpunk was a success, rockstar have left a bigger legacy that most companies could only dream of a d have actually influenced the game's industry, broke various records, etc

CDPR did not created The Witcher fantasy they addapted of the books, almost all the characters of the game are from the books
And about Cyberpunk 2077, I dont think I need to explain

But what rockstar make with their games is just amazing. The storyline of RDR2 is just the best story a have ever seen in a videogame, the games are extremaly dettalied and any game of CDPR will never reach this.

I'm fucking shocked how ANYONE could think this nobody of a developer could even be COMPARED to Rockstar Games nevermind competing against them what has this developer made exactly that got them all this crazy attention?

Witcher 3? ONE GAME?! How does ONE game manage to get all this ridiculous hype around it that people think this developer can compare to Rockstar who have released countless games that have broken records, more records than any CDPR title in history.

Why does Cyberpunk get a level of hype we've never seen before all because of ONE game?! I don't understand, I will never understand, was it a combination of the game being in development since 2012, Witcher 3, Keanu Reeves AND their good reputation at the time? Is that it?

I honestly have no idea, let this be a lesson to their fanboys to never hype this developer ever again.

Well its happened, Cyberpunk has raised the bar like you said. And with Bethesda being bought by Microsoft the whole open world blockbuster genre has been turned on its head. Rockstar will still do modern urban, but hopefully they will finally give long overdue and massive rehaul to their AI and quest systems. If anyone can meet the challenge they can.
