Fun fact: Nixon stayed in Mar-A-Lago one month before his presidency ended. That is where Trump is now.

The primary reason for the resignation was the president's withdrawals from the Syria conflict.

President Trump is such an egomaniac.General Mattis is a true patriot and hero and our president can't stand the fact that he will never measure up to him.
I would like to say thank you for your service to Gen Mattis.God bless you sir.

Trump is like Captain Bligh in The Bounty. We need a modern day Fletcher Christian to cast him adrift.

Ok folks. Make the case. How does Trump’s experience as Rich Playboy turned Reality Star make him a better military mind than Mattis?

Great Decision especially for a General who supports Transgenders in the Military. Thank God for Trump #MAGA

Mattis wrote a respectful letter of resignation then hastily tossed in a paragraph that doubles as a public outcry. that's really weasel move and a complete violation of protocol, especially for a person with military stripes. a requirement of the SecDef position is that you carry out the Commander-In-Chief's strategy and you don't rebuke him in public. i don't care how you feel about Trump, what Mattis did was lame and he needs to hit the bricks (remember Obama fired him too)

Trump's disrespect for General Mattis is appalling. The General has dedicated 40 years of his life in service to the country whereas Trump has been self-serving for his entire life. One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is that the cowardly liar-in-chief was planning on spending the entire Christmas break at Mar-a-Lago and not visiting any troops in danger zones, something every president has done, Cadet bone spurs shows his true colour again - yellow.

In the business world, if someone resigns, it is polite to let them finish out their time before they are replaced. It's a sign of a hot-head. Otherwise, its a sign they were forced out for no good reason. Now, we have an acting. Anymore actors? That's a sign -- I can't make up my mind.
