This video couldn't have come at a better time for me. After 13 years of marriage, my wife just told me she wanted a divorce. I tried to apologize for what I had done, but she didn't want to forgive me or give me another chance. I'll definitely use all these points when I talk to her again in a couple of days. Thank you Dr Peterson.

Now that’s a freaking good advice. It’s really important to not just say I’m sorry but actually be sorry and understand why you are sorry.
God bless everyone 🙏

This is so valuable. I've noticed many people's apologies have been rather insincere lately.

Many a time i apologise simply just to get rid of the guilt i felt inside of me. Now growing up i realised i need to properly repent and apologise accordingly so that healing will take place and reignite a new life or relationship that start from healing and forgiveness.

At 45 I've not heard a more eloquent or thought-provoking dissection of the 'simple' apology....awesome.

I can't thank you enough for your service to humanity everyday and how you share your gifts and insights on the human condition, it has truly been transformative.

I went through some things that could have seriously taken me out but listening to your content everyway on Youtube helped me to completely transform myself instead. For that I have the utmost gratitude. Thank you for giving me the puzzle pieces I needed to untangle the knots, restore sanity and become whole again and better than ever.

To “be sorry for something you didn’t do” is basically to apologize merely to please whoever it is that is pestering you

Sometimes saying "I am sorry" is more important than saying "I love you". Thank you for addressing this Dr. Peterson. I am so grateful that critical social moral issues are being so addressed by your brilliant mind! So many people are lost and need cousel... direction. Dr. Peterson is a tremendous resource!

My narcissistic/alcoholic/drug using sister has never, and I doubt ever will apologize for the many years of heartache and misery she caused everyone around her.
I have moved on, basically decided to save myself.

Making amends is one of the most difficult thing for us to accomplish as humans, and, unavoidably, we will fail to do so in many situations.

In my experience, genuine apologies _tangibly hurt those giving them._ Unfortunately, in this age of falsehoods, gaging sincerity is a trial in and of itself. Eagerness to take self-sacrificial actions to make amends is definitely a point in their favor, though.

Sometimes you recognize you said/did something wrong, and you want to make things better, but you need time to think more deeply about it. A trick I learned from a friend is to say, "I recognize the way I handled that was wrong. Will you forgive me?" This also works if you don't feel sorry now, but know you will later.

This reminds me exactly of what happened in one of the episodes of The Chosen.
Simon Peter came home to a wife that he had made feel bad and he had no idea what he did. It was an excellent portrayal in the show of just what you said do you want to watch that if you’re not because it’s awesome.

If we say or do something that feels wrong, it’s wrong. Apologies are necessary for healing, closure and continued respectful relationships. Thank you Jordan ✝️❤️🌻
