US Senate confirms former US ambassador to India Richard Verma for top State Department position

Indian-American Richard Verma has been confirmed by US Senate as Deputy Secretary of State, Management & Resources. Richard Verma was confirmed by the Senate for the position by a vote of 67-26. Verma has previously served as the US ambassador to India. In his new position, he will coordinate, and oversee State Department operations like overseas aid and civilian response.
