My pc deleted a good chunk of my cc and some mods due to it being detected as a potential virus, crazy thing is that I’ve had most of that stuff in my game for years and nothing ever happened before. It’s upsetting but Ig it was an inevitable situation lol

Exe files are things to be cautious arround (mods are not supposed to be that file type), but sometimes they appear to some file types they are not, and it is good to learn how to spot that, and set the computer to always show file extension as well, and sometimes malicious code can come from other filetypes as well. Be safe out there ❤

the way my laptop started fucking up yesterday mid sims session then i saw the news about this on twitter, never deep scanned my laptop so fast, thankfully no malware and don't have these, , pheww

People do nasty ish all the time. All I can tell you to do is run a full scan on your computer after you download any cc or mods. Twisted Mexi has recently just created a mod guard that will block a mod with an exe file that attempts to download without your knowledge.

not only we have to deal with people uploading cc to shady websites with malware, now we have to look out for malware even in websites we trust such as MTS.

Btw for Mac users, your computer will not be running the exe files, so essentially for Mac users, you’re safe.

But! That doesn’t not necessarily mean that some (shady ppl, won’t be trying to Create a malware FOR Mac users.)

just don’t use the websites mentioned just to be cautious, run a Mac cleaner, mod cleaners. And like itsmetroi said download from verified sources.

It's not mentioned much because it gets a bad rap in the sims community but if anyone goes on loverslab and got the cult s** mod it's got malware. I saw it back in like the 1st week of January on loverslab, I'm super glad I didn't get it.

just got malware from a mod or cc and the worst is I don't know which one is the culprit, I deleted them all, I did get my ea account back and I think I'm going to take a pause with mods and ccs
