Old Tanker Desk Restoration

This project is living proof that the phrase, "One man's trash is another man's treasure" is true. My neighbor was recently cleaning out his garage when he pulled out this metal desk. After some small talk he said he was going to take it to the dump and convinced to move it into my garage.

This video shows the process I took to get the desk from a trash state to a treasure state. Enjoy!

Hey man. Just take the handles off.

The 2 screws are concealed on the inside of the drawer by a metal plate that pops out with 2 flat screwdrivers and a 90 degree pick.

Did you replace the table top with vinyl again or did you just paint it? I have a vintage desk where the rubber/vinyl product is peeling and I am trying to find how to replace it, any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hey. Is this a General Fireproofing model desk? I have something similar I just purchased. I pulled out all the drawers and now, none of them will slide back in. Did you have any similar issued when working on your project?
