Juneteenth is now a federal holiday and is being observed the day before June 19 and nearest workday to the date. Questions arise whether or not private companies will honor the new holiday going forward.
Employment law attorney and mediator Angela Reddock-Wright joined BNC Live to offer some clarifications to corporate practices for federal holidays. Many misconceptions come from not knowing the difference between rules for private and government employers. Wright says that federal and government employers have to observe any federal holidays, while private employers have the choice of whether or not to do the same.
