Interesting. I'd have to imagine there's some safety and noise pollution benefits, as well. I couldn't help but notice the video says it's optimized for "short- or medium-haul flights"... I'm guessing this is related to constraints involving the power needed to move particularly large/heavy aircraft? If the tech is well-received and continues to develop, is there any reason it couldn't be extended to all aircraft... including, say, the A380?
