Roman politics and law makes me giggle. Cicero’s the Corruption and Cruelty of Verres and Cleomenes was a good example of the fact insulting the defendant was perfectly acceptable and I can’t help but laugh that Cicero’s method of proving Verres was bad at his job was pointing out how inappropriately he dressed to meet with a fleet’s sailors
