To clarify with the last tip since there is some confusion:

My point is that you shouldn't fight for fighting sake. Every time your team goes for a fight it should be a sure thing which is why I noted the importance of flanking. The goal is to build battle high easily, and not lose it. This is why when you win a fight you want to move on to something else because waiting for new enemies give up your advantage and potentially sacrifices the gains you just made. Remember don't take fights that aren't a sure thing. Fight Smart.

Something worth mentioning with keeping the map open that it took me embarrassingly long to realize was a feature, is that there should be a little lock button on the left side of the map window that makes the window only closable by clicking the x on the window, and pressing escape will no longer close it (mouse and keyboard players, unsure what it does for controller players). This is great especially if you tab target and use escape to untarget at all because now you wont accidentally close the map in the heat of battle. Another button on the left iirc is an eye icon that makes the map somewhat see through when not focused, which is useful if you dont like the map being such an obstruction of vision for the environment around you. It helps make sure you can still at least catch movement from behind the map at the least, rather than making it a whole blind spot.

This was an excellent video! The check for understanding at the 6 minute mark is top tier.

1. Early Battle High > Early Points. 2. Your LB chargest faster if you are in 2nd or 3rd place.

Another good tip is using the /return to reset. If you're in a bad spot with 2 teams about to flank you, you can use it to get away especially if you have high BH. Do remember though it does takes 5 secs to go off so youll want to find somewhere where the enemy cant target you immediately. Additionally try to have the skill on your hotbar. The last thing you want this to try and type it out when you have 20+ people about to kill you.

This is a phenomenal guide! I started Frontline during ShB and learned a lot of this from experience. Wish I had a guide like this back then!

Thank you @TheNastyNamazu, this was very helpful and answered a lot of my questions being new to PVP. The hardest thing for me to remember is making sure I heal myself when needed and running away when the fight is overwhelming. Currently, I'm a warrior and I really enjoy PVP in FFIXV much more than I did in WoW. Thanks for your videos.

This is a really good video. I just wish most frontline players would watch it -_-. Im almost always on a losing team 9/10 matches are usually a loss. And i know I can improve but im not the only one who needs it and this video proves it.

There's a lot of videos giving frontlines advice but this is the best I've seen so far

Thank you for this! Now I just need to find something to teach me how to make being a pld in cc less frustrating.

Frontlines, where doing the smart thing is mostly about trying to guess which stupid thing the other team will do.
Though I don't really get why the situation pictured would have Adder commit to center as it seems like they have every incentive to hit the close north point as Storm does. The fact that this map requires a person to manually cap without damage as opposed to point gain via crystal DPS, it seems like often you just need a few people preventing a cap until you mop of the easier caps. Often no team is throwing everything at the center so small groups just hold each other from cap until the outside is decided and people start to converge. At least, that is what I most often see.

Great video but I'm going to have to disagree on your last point. Fighting is not your last resort. You wanna stay engaged fighting and building BHs as much as possible. Most matches are won by the team that can constantly win group fights unless there are terrible spawns. A little more advance strategy when you know you are teamed with confident fighters is: ignoring objectives early game and focus heavy on building battle highs. Enemy team won't try to chase you since you are technically losing at the moment. So mid-late game when better obj spawn, your team becomes unstoppable because you can claim any of them since you can easily wipe the enemy team.

What do the symbols over your head mean (the + and squares)? I've seen it on some matches and wasn't sure what it was intended to mean.

The amount of times the map hasnt showed me the enemy alliance is astounding. Idk why, but it's wild.
