Blowing Glass Decanters with Emma Klau

Wine decanters from glass artist Emma Klau are made with frenetic energy and skill. The furnaces of the Jam Factory in Adelaide, give life to a series of wine enthusiasts dreams in Emma Klau’s Kinetic Range.

This video shows Emma blowing a very special part of her range and one that is dear to every red drinkers heart, the decanter. These decanters are unique because as they rotate they aerate the wine. Rolling the wine around the inside of the vessel is as natural as breathing in the aroma and finally pouring a glass.

The hot shop at the Jam Factory Adelaide blazes day and night and Emma can often be found there working her skills, polishing her glass and even helping out (earning her keep) by giving a class or two. The viewing platform over the hot shop floor gives visitors the perfect way to watch and be inspired by the work going on below.
