It's quite unusual to have both french and Gainsbourg stuff on a guitar chanel! Thanks a lot to shine a light on this great album 👍

Have loved this album since being given the CD of it in 1991. I was living in France for the year and had to go out and buy a portable CD player so I could listen to it. Spent a whole evening discovering Serge Gainsbourg and then woke up to the news that he had died. I thought it was somehow my fault! Three decades later I’m still noticing its influence … This video has inspired my husband to play some of Melody Nelson and it’s making me so happy because we named our daughter Melody and it is without a doubt the most important album in my life ever. Thank you for this appreciation ❤

And Adrian somehow levels up yet again by exploring a Serge Gainsbourg album. So freaking amazing.

Thanks for this amazing choice following J.Birkin's death. Not so easy to approch Gainsbourg's music, great and thanks for the transcription.

I've been waiting years, if not decades, for someone to do a video on this album.
This album has been an inspiration for countless artists who have ripped it off over the decades from Air to Beck.
I've been chasing this Bass tone all my life.
Every track on this album is KILLER.
Thank you for doing such a generous in-depth video on such an 'under talked about' album and finally setting the record straight on who played on it

Thanks for this.

I now realise where Beck got his 'inspiration ' for the track Paper Tiger off Sea Change.

Both have exceptionally cool guitar, though.

One of my favourite albums! I named one of my daughters after it.

I always thought the bass used had to be a semi acoustic as the recording had a bell ringing quality

One of my top 10 favs in my album in my collection. Unbelievable guitar and string arrangements that were so far ahead of their time... Thanks for covering it.

thanks, that's great ! Glad to see non-french people interested in Gainsbourg (the best french writer-composer ever for me). You could do the same with "L' homme à tête de chou", another Gainsbourg's great concept album with stunning guitar parts !

So hum, first I found this dude searching for a Seek & Destroy (Iggy) lesson, and now he’s lecturing on Melody Nelson? Ok, one more subscriber!

Alan Parker did a lot of U.K telly themes, including “Angels” and “Sir Prancealot” and “Captain Pugwash”. Spotify has some of his library music albums, well worth a listen.

What an epic installment!. Probably my favourite album and one that ive always found rather mystical in terms of how it was all played. You absolutely nailed it!. Thank you for this.
