Why in the world did Jennifer Lopez think that 1) Hustlers was an Oscar award worthy movie and 2) that her acting in said movie was worthy of an Oscar.

Neither are true. What she was banking on was that because she was a Latina actress, that it had a diverse cast of women and that we're supposed to be all positive about sex work such as stripping, only fans and escorts now. She tried to check a bunch of boxes and figured they'd HAVE to give it to her. This woman has rode the backs of black women her ENTIRE CAREER!!! Her most popular songs aren't even HER singing but black women. She's even stolen her style from them... Down to the dancing, clothes and hairstyles.

No the work as a whole wasn’t Oscar worthy - this performance was great but you can’t give an Oscar for just one good strip dance scene . Let’s get perspective- the rest of the movie I felt like I was just watching jlo she didn’t transcend beyond who she can portray
