I just bought a very lightly used 2022 Trident. The first owner bought it, put on some triumph factory accessories and a full GPR exhaust. Over two years he rode it enough to complete the break in and then traded for a cruiser. So I bought the bike way cheaper than new and it had the full 600 mile service done. I’ve owned it for 5 days and have put about 300 miles on it. Super fun little bike! The power comes on super smooth and has a very healthy pull. I got it for ~$7300 OTD with 658 miles on it.

It’s a great first bike!

Upgrading brake fluid and pads will fix that break fade. 💯 Also, you should always leave it in gear at stoplights for that hopefully never-needed emergency escape...

I owned one bike for summer 15 years ago. Getting the itch to get back into it again and I keep coming back to this exact bike, I love the styling and the orange is amazing.

for the second gripe or disadvantage you mentioned, I have a suggestion, You can get a phone mount extention that fits on the centre piece of the handle bar and then you can put the phone mount on it in the centre below the cluster

Stick to 3 & 4th in the twisties and you won’t need your brakes at all. If you are using your brakes so much they fade they are being way overused. You will have much better control of your machine in the twisties regulating your speed with the throttle in those lower gears.

Hey thanks for the review it is straightforward and honest and typical of most riders. With that said here are a few suggestions as I'm also a triumph Trident 660 owner.

The their exists a different amount for the quad lock that turns the phone horizontal and is attached to the handlebar clamp if you insist on using your phone in the manner you are.

As you mentioned the ergonomics and the appearance of the motorcycle It's also been designed to use with a communications module which in 2025 units comes included in this no longer an optional part. That allows you to put the phone in your jacket where it stays safe or in a tank bag and you have near full use of your phone through your microphone and the switch block on the left hand side of your grip or handlebar. That includes controlling your music, answering phone calls, viewing SMS and navigation.

My wife commutes on hers and it's fully kitted out for long rides with a tall Unit Garage windscreen + SW Motech panniers & tailpack plus decent mini spotlights. The Trident has better paint & plastics than the GSX8S. The CB650R is neck and neck with the Trident, but where we live there's a 6-month waiting list for one of those... so, naah. One thing my wife really likes about this bike is the fact that it is LIGHT and it is actually smaller than her previous bike, the 700 CLX.

I added an extension bar to the base of the mirror stalk to mount her phone cradle with wireless charging. A Healtech Thunderbox powers the phone charger, 2-channel dashcams and spotlights without touching the bike's wiring.

The one thing we do hate on both our Triumphs is the fact that the service reminder spanner icon can only be deleted by the dealer (and they'll charge you for it). Either that, or buy one of those OBD dongles and pay a 25 euro yearly subscription for TuneECU.

Thanks for the actual review. I get this bike in one week (35mm lower) in the "Tribute edition" which includes quickshifter, windshield (small) and spoiler. I count every day, its my first bigger bike. Greetings from Berlin, Germany.

My quadlock came with a little extension that moves the phone over sideways from the mounting point

Had mine for almost a year and agree with all your points. Most likely grabbing a street triple RS to alleviate the issues I’ve found in the Trident.

“Only 81hp” unless the driver is at least 7/10 expert that power is face distorting fast, 120 is a rocket, 200 u hate living

I got 5 Triumphs in my garage, "fanboy" for sure. Last year I bought Junior a new Trident. He loves it. I got him the Akra full race exhaust and a DNK tune. I got him the Evotech qaud lock mount which attaches to the handle bar brace. Look it up, see if it's something you'd like.

I agree with almost all of these.

Another negative I would personally add that I have noticed is the headlight is a bit dim for night riding. It's okay in the city with streetlights around, but as soon as you go off on back roads away from light, in the pitch black the stock headlight is completely inadequate. I ended up replacing the stock light with a generic 7" round LED and a new bucket, and it was a night and day difference. I can actually see and be seen, and feel much more confident going out at night in case of random deer or other road hazards.

In terms of phone mounting- personally I use Rokform over QuadLoc, but its the same basic system. And at least my Rokform bar mount I was able to snug up against the mirror mount on the left, so it puts it up over the clutch, out of the way of the dash. I'm not sure if the Quadloc mount is too small to handle the thicker section of bar..? But you can get any generic Ram Ball mount, and use whatever ram head you want, including a Quadloc, so you should be able to easily move a new mount over further.

OK, nice video and I appreciate that the views expressed are yours alone. I'm pleased that you like the Trident because there is actually nothing to dislike at this price point. I have owned my trident here in the UK for 15 months and I love it. As for your disadvantaged (btw that still means dislikes) I find myself struggling to agree with any of your 5 points. To start with there is nothing wrong with the seat, I ride for hours at a time and the seat is fine. I have a quad lock fitted with the vibration damper and I have it fixed right next to my left hand wing mirror, absolutely perfect. Ok lets be quite frank here, the brakes are spot on, a litter rear braking pressure to keep things stable together with a big handful of front brakes, stops me in good time, every time. If you really don't agree then swap the standard pads out for ECB pads and a good Dot 5 Brake fluid and change out your brake lines for steel braided lines. Also don't forget to clean out the brake dust regularly. Point 4 is mute as it depends on what you want out of a bike, horses for courses. Finally, how often do you use first gear as second gear pulls away fine in most circumstances. At lights simply pull up and hold second gear with the clutch, never a problem unless going up a very steep hill. This is just my view and everyone is welcome to agree or disagree.

Supperb video and review. Congrats. I am from Spain. My trident is the same than yours and i use it in the same way, 30% work, 70% twisty roads for fun. I agree with you in the good points but I differ from you on some others. For me, vibrations over 6k that gransmits to pegs, mirrors and right handlebar are an issue. Gearbox has has been tricky from the beggining. Mine came with quickshift installed and it was almost imppossible to find neutral. My trident had to go to the dealer and under gurantee they changed some spacers and springs of the detent shaft that solved the neutral problem completely. Other concern, lack of any kind of transport accesories and MPG. Aside from that, i am completely satisfied with this school bike. I will take care of it until my definite motorbike that I am pretty sure it will be a low trail. V.

Try the quad lock over to the left. You can get it next to/slightly in front of the mirror stem, and it’s perfect there

I put the Rizoma race handlebars on mine. The wind resistance is no longer an issue because of the forward lean. It’s way sportier
