6 idiots gave this a thumb down. If this isn't superb playing at the very highest level, I don't know what is.

Dowland was so far ahead of his time. This is extraordinary performance; superb tone, well turned phrases. Bravo.

I agree with Carlo Stringhi, an outstanding performance: beautiful sound, clear and very sensitive played counterpoint, very natural and moving phrasing which goes deep into the feeling of the listener and a great recording by Uros: it's just a pleasure to listen to it, grazie anche da parte mia.

Perhaps Dowland's greatest masterpiece! Amazing chromaticism, with dark, intense emotion sustained throughout. Seems to anticipate some of Bach's abstract compositions in the Well tempered clavier and The Art of the Fugue.

Beautiful performance.

How do you rate the lute your using by Jiri Cepelak? I hear he makes great Lutes and one of the best luthiers in Europe, is this true?

Sounds in some places like 21 century music 😮❤

Beautiful! Lute music and esp. Dowlands music has healing virtues, as has the one who plays it.

Some people talked about pain in the right hand, I would say it could be much more a matter of muscles for the left hand due to the wide open positions... And I read like it is a lute with 66, 7cm Vendelio Venere? It is also tuned in F isn't it? (absolute ears are actually a problem for this kind of early music with different instruments in differents sizes and pitches 😅) Thanks for this performance!! Where is this piece? In any manuscript somewhere?

Teacher Bor, this Interpretation of Forlorn Hope goes in my perception beyond Early Music trends, and conveys crystal clear polyphonic textures. It opened to me a whole different window to John Dowland as well as Elizabethan repertoire. Last but not least, I found a Forlorn Hope. Immensely grateful!

hello Bor, once again, thankyou for your mastery. I have sent two emails to Jiri regarding this instrument and have yet to hear from him. Can you tell me if he is away or if there is an issue with his contact information as I would very much like to have him make this Lute for me. I am in Canada, and there are very few makers that match the mastery of his instruments.. With Thanks in advance.

Lovely playing and it's good to see you're playing a decent-sized lute! Looks like a Venere C36, one of my favourite models. It shows how a string length of about 67cm is no problem to play (as many people fear) and gives great flexibility to the sound.
