Someone once said this is how they redo the same thing and charge the cost to govt depts that need to exhaust their budget before the next allocation. I never bought the idea but it always stuck on my mind whenever I see these kind of posts

Problem with those is that usually the bolt is old and heavily rusted. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, I wake up screaming when my mind keeps torturing me with dreams of old, overtighten bolts in aluminum, somewhere down in the car suspension, with a very poor access to even fit the drill in there.

When you grind the head off it removes all the tension on the bolt so can then be removed easy

A screw extractor does the same job and is a bit more common than that unicorn of a drillbit.

They also make purpose built screw extractors that work well.

It's always nice to use a left hand bit so the bolt doesn't get any tighter. Years ago I worked on Brown and Sharpe automatic screw machines and most of the tooling was LH because the machine needed low speed forward for threading and everything else was done in reverse. Afaik they're not the only machines that have a reason for LH operations.

Just use an Easy out thats what they are designed for, cheaper than a left hand drill bit.
