Rest in Peace, Oddballs Cartoon

Oddballs, the Netflix cartoon from TheOdd1sOut creator James Rallison, has been cancelled. Oddballs was never renewed for another batch of episodes after not reaching the high expectations set by Netflix. What does this mean for Netflix animation? Will we ever get to see more Netflix cartoons that last more than one or two seasons?

Still a huge accomplishment for a YouTuber to get a whole Netflix series

To be honest, it wasn't the most coherent cartoon ever, but I still liked it, and it's still a shame Netflix keeps doing cartoons dirty like this. The fact that James got a chance to do this at all is still quite the accomplishment. I hope Netflix changes their attitude someday.

I think the biggest issue with the show is that James is trying to seem to be hip cool and relatable but in reality it just fails to do that.

First you cancel Inside Job.
Then you cancel the Johnny Test reboot.
Then you cancel Dead End: Paranormal Park, despite S2's cliffhanger.
Then you cut a bit of Hilda S3 off short
Now you canceled Oddballs?!

FINALLY, MORE PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT IT! Yeah, I'm really devastated. I found out a couple months ago, and I'm so tired of Netflix doing this. Especially since TheOdd1sOut has been a huge part of my life for years and has helped me coped throughout the hard times. It makes me sad how something amazing he and his team put a insane amount of effort into get canceled.

I sorta saw that coming, but yeah. Netflix is so brutal on these animated shows, and they deserve more love. I just got my copy of the graphic novel, and I plan to read it soon.

I love the guy and his channel and I give him mad props to him actually managing to get a Netflix show in which YouTube animators don’t normally get that kinda recognition and respect, but if he tried to make that just as good as what he does for his YouTube channel, and was actually himself like he is in his own channel, it would’ve been great and probably would’ve gotten successful

Honestly, Oddballs was just that kinda show you could unwind and just watch for the irony of it. Sad to see it go. Congrats to James for even getting his own show in the first place (I actually discovered him through Oddballs).

I'm honestly not surprised at this announcement. Upset sure, but not surprised. The moment James announced that the show would be on netflix, I somewhat had a bad feeling. I also watched his pitch video and was annoyed how he didn't decide to mention indie animation as an alternative to make your own show. I honestly wish James and the rest of the team the best and hopefully things change.

I absolutely love the odd ones out. One of my absolute favorite YouTube channels so I'm so excited for oddballs, I couldn't really get into oddballs but I am still so proud of what he was able to do. I think Vivsiepop is the only other YouTuber I know of that got one of her shows to be on a streaming service/ bigger platform

Hilda had its third and final season recently released on Netflix, and that was incredible! You gotta at least give Netflix that.
