Pre-Algebra Lesson #36 Proportions | What is a Proportion in Math

In this lesson, we will learn the definition of a proportion in math. Two ratios, rates, or fractions represent a proportion if they are equal. In order to check if we have a proportion, we can use the equality test for fractions. Basically, we will just form the cross products and see if they are equal. With equal cross products, we will know that our two ratios, rates, or fractions are equal and represent a proportion.
