I came for the Apple commercial too and thought it was potentially a bop. Came because of the Apple commercial and the lyric of "Don't let me go" striking a chord at this moment in my life. Hearing the original lyric and realizing it's actually just, "Don't let go, " and the thought that hits me is, "Maybe sometimes the message that was waiting for you wasn't the one you came looking for."

I very much enjoy stuff like this. Short, sweet, to the point, yet leaves you wanting more. Chord progressions that invoke gospel/jazz with highly synthesized tools. Still a pure soul sound done with modern technology. A bridge between the old and the new. Brilliant! I love it!

When I heard this on the commercial, I thought it was familiar, eerily familiar. “Don’t Let Go” by PJ Morton was on repeat for weeks on end when his album dropped. Pretty cool that it somehow made it to commercial airwaves. Hopefully he’s proud and you are, too.
