Indigenous cultures, making use of oral traditions and the practical experience of millennia of living on the land, have subtle and elegant connections to plants of all kinds.

We invite you to explore the Enji naagdowing Anishinaabe waadiziwin Trail at the Arboretum. This journey into Anishinaabe medicine plants, as told by the Anishinaabe people involved in its development, explores the use of plants and their connections to culture, language, ecology, and history. The Anishinaabe waadiziwin trail is approximately 1.1 kilometres, from the Nature Interpretive Centre to Hickory Valley. The land is hilly with packed earth, gravel and wood mulch surfaces.

In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30, 2022), RBG is waiving the Arboretum parking fee for the day so that all who are interested will have the opportunity to take their own journey along this trail and learn more about Traditional Indigenous Knowledge 🧡.
