Olivia Wise - Roar (Katy Perry cover)

Olivia Wise has Brain Cancer. She came into a recording studio for her first time and recorded the Katy Perry song Roar. She couldn't walk or stand, she didn't have her full breath or the energy she used to, and she was managing her new pains and new limitations. While her physical condition was rapidly fading, her spirit remained untouched.

Olivia is a fighter and has gone through the fire, in fact, she was going through the fire while she recorded this song, but you wouldn't know it, because she was dancing right through it. She is an inspiration, a champion, and my hero. This is her Roar.

As a dad with a beautiful, vibrant young daughter, I'm not ashamed to admit that I basically cried through this entire video. I first read her story on CNN this morning, then looked up this video. Everyone who personally knew her, family especially, must feel extraordinarily blessed to have had her in their lives. For a child to be faced with the grim reality that she had run out of options, and do it with such fierce optimism, grace and dignity. The world is a lesser place without her but, perhaps, by her passing, millions can hear her story. In that way she can enrich and bless the lives of so many more people than she had the chance to do while she was on this earth.

To Olivia as you look down on the amazing legacy you left in such a short time, I hope you are immensely proud of the life you led and the person you were. I couldn't ask anything better for my own daughter than to grow up with the kind of grace and strength you were born with. I don't know why I'm still tearing up. I don't even know you, and yet I feel like I do. I love you Olivia, keep roaring sweetheart.

I prayed and prayed for this girl. When I saw she passed away it hurt so bad :( I didn't even know her but I feel the same pain as if I did.
