Who is the woman clothed with the sun?

There seems to be some confusion about the identity of the woman that apostle John saw in the following vision:

Revelation 12:1 Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. 2Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.

Now, there are those who interpret the woman of this vision to be Israel. And, there are those who interpret her to be the church. In a way, both interpretations can be attributed to the woman but they are not her correct identity. And to simply say this woman is Israel or the church, is to hide the real identity of this woman.

Mount Zion
My friends, the real identity of the “woman clothed with the sun” in this vision is Mount Zion—God’s holy mountain. She is the heavenly Jerusalem the mother of our spirits.

The women is old Israel.
