On Saturday, October 31, 2015, at 2:25 a.m., police received a call to attend the Yonge Street and Charles Street area.
It is alleged that:
- a man appeared to have been shot on Charles Street
- the man then drove away in a vehicle, and was involved in a collision a few moments later
- once on scene, police located the man in a vehicle suffering from obvious trauma
- he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later
- the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest
The deceased was identified as Charles Shillingford, 25, of Toronto.
The Homicide Squad executed several search warrants and arrest warrants from Monday, May 2, 2016 to Friday, May 6, 2016, in relation to this investigation.
As a result, Jahmal Joseph Richardson, 31, of Oakville, Kyle Sparks MacKinnon, 26, of Toronto, Mitchell Mannette, 20, of Halifax, and Denzell Tyresse Walter Desmond, 19, of Halifax were all arrested and charged with:
1) First-Degree Murder
It is expected that they will appear together in court at College Park on Thursday, May 19, 2016.
Kyle Sparks MacKinnon was also charged by the Homicide Squad on Thursday February 11, 2016, in connection with Homicides #8/2016 and #9/2016.
He has been charged with:
1) two counts of Second-Degree Murder
2) three counts of Attempt Murder
