3/6 + 2/- 6 = 1/6 = - 6/- 36. No need to write 3/6 as 1/2 nor 2/ -6 as - 1/3 For the rest I had the same way of solving this fractional/rational equation.

I think I can!
x² - 4x - 32 is so oh very conveniently the same as:
(x+4)(x-8) 😊
...so lets use it as the common denominator:

3(x-8) + 2(x+4) - 3x
=
(x+4)(x-8) (x+4)(x-8)

Now we can safely drop the denominator at all 🤪

3x - 24 + 2x + 8 + 3x = 0
8x - 16 = 0
8x = 16
x, = 16/8 = 2

the right side denominator is equal to the left side denominators multiplied together.

The gotcha is if ANY answer causes any denominator to equal 0.

I had one problem that took 3 pages.
When I was done I got the square root of 4.
The correct answer was + or - 2. I think he took off 2 points on the question. I was amazed that when I got down to my answer I had gotten rid of all the variables and didn’t pay attention to my final answer. It was my best learning experience and was well worth the 2 points.

x=2 in about 15 seconds in my head. Sorry it took so long. That's too long for an exam. Nice explanation, though. A quick glance shows that the denominators on the left side are the factors of the trinomial on the right. So you quickly come to 8x-16=0; then, 8x=16, and x=2.
