I was here last 2013 to March of 2015 working as Primary Teacher....Angkor Wat temples really amazes me till now. But hated the system of charging so much 25$ for the ticket and yet you couldn't see improvements in Cambodia. You'll see foreign groups renovating the temples but not from the government itself..yet, they earned so much money as thousands of tourists coming everyday. Ask the locals or the tuk tuk drivers, they will tell you where the money goes...(it'll go directly to the government's pocket)

1. Angkor Wat was made in the 12th century and it was used to legitimize the kings rule and authority.
2. the place where you first entered is the main gate.
3. the steps are steep because it means that it is hard to ascend into heaven.
4. the place where you said people might have "fights, cock fights"...etc was actually a pool where the king bath
5. the sculptures tell stories from Hindu mythology, two of the most famous being the Hindu creation story and the Judgement day.

I rented a bicycle in Siem Reap, which is a great way to get around the nearer temples (which includes the Great Angkor Wat Temple). You find info on the temples easily enough.

Hello Christian! I just finished watching all your videos from day 1 to 133 and i must say, that im just blown away by the beauti of all those places. This is an excellent video and mirrors my experience in SR.. I wish I'd seen it before I went to Siem Reap in May this year. You're right about spending money. It seemed to me that the hand never leaves the wallet up there. Generally the people were very nice and friendly, but the "corruption" and heat got to me. I had the same experience with a day tour by a taxi driver that you folks did with your tuk tuk. It was basically drive you, drop you, wait for you. Next time, I'll try to go with a guide, or buy a book and read up first. Love your videos, even as an older guy myself, they are great.

Bit stupid if your telling your viewers that you went to Angkor without any knowledge of what you were seeing in the first place? So no research? And average cost of a Tuk Tuk to the temple all can be viewed on the Internet BTW. Oh well good video on what not to do when your traveling. More travel experience will come with better knowledge.

You paid 25 bucks to get to Angkor Wat? Man, you got cheated. I am shamed of my people. But not all of them are like this. You've better hire bicycles next time. And your girl's dress is very unappropriated according the new code of conducts at Angkor.

There was no " slave labor " involved in the construction of Angkor Wat

We recognized you yesterday by the tomb raider temple. You should really check out the war remnants museum in siem riep if you are still here. It's a one on one tour with a veteran who lost his leg in a land mine. There are basically only weapons on display but he tells you his life stories and answers any questions and all profits go to the kitchen of hope next door. Otherwise cool channel👍

I think the price of your one-day ticket is for visiting the whole area, not only the Angkor Wat temple, and the tuk tuk fee too.
