I never grew up around it but upon having durian mochi I thought it had a sweet and plasticky smell and taste. Not offensive at all. My friends found it so repulsive they couldn’t swallow. I wonder if it’s a genetic thing like cilantro tasting like soap, which I also have lol. I’ll have to try to actual pure fruit one day :)

Durian has never smelled bad to me growing up. One of my favorite ice cream flavors!

It's alway wild to me the description people come up with for durian smell. For me it always just smell and taste like sweet, creamy, cheesy custard.

Like, cheese and cream is everywhere in the US, and I don't see much different between that, especially the more pungent type of cheese, and durian

It smells like sulfur, not natural gas which has no smell. Sulfur is added to NG to give the smell.
