There is one good thing about Mansoor character, is that he has a power of self realisation, and a will to correct his errors. This is also a rare gem of a quality. Most people don’t bother their whole life, to look upon the mistakes they have done in past, and to tend the injured people they have left behind.

The dad in this drama is soft natured, calm and very peaceful. We don't see him raising his voice or losing his temper. His only aim is to save his daughter’s marriage, always telling her to be patient and that one day things will get better. He has a good heart and means well, but in doing so, he encourages her to tolerate suffering, bullying and mental abuse for the sake of peace.

I think this drama is beautifully made with incredible acting, but the storyline is deeply too tragic. It sends the message that a woman must endure abuse with patience, rather than recognising the severe damage it causes. Dur e Shawar suffers emotional trauma, constant bullying and control. She is stripped of her independence, even being stopped from driving.

But despite everything, she never forgets what Mansoor put her through. She later reveals his true character to their daughter, who once idolised him as the perfect father.

Even in old age, Dur e Shawar carries the scars and trauma of her past. She never finds true peace because the effects of mental abuse last a lifetime. Was her endurance worth it then? Wouldn’t it have been better to choose a peaceful life rather than years of suffering?

Issue is that in Pakistani culture, divorce is seen as shameful and the worst possible choice. But is it really worse than living a life of pain?? This drama shows a painful reality that women are told to suffer in silence, when in truth, real strength is knowing when to walk away from toxic and abusive relationships.

Ah...but in the end, the soothing music plays, making it seem like all is well. The couple appear happy... and then Mansoor tells Dur e Shawar she had a lot of patience, as if her suffering was something to be proud of. The ending is twisting and manipulative, covering years of abuse with clever lies, making the audience question whether endurance is truly worth the cost.

My father took 30years to praise my mom that she is a great woman, but I had always seen my mom praying for him for all those 30yrs. Salute her, she is really a super woman.

I can’t say what this drama is for me. It’s not a drama like so many are saying. I can’t say I watched a single episode without crying or sobbing. It is re-traumatising and cathartic as well. This drama is a jewel which will never lose its value in the world of dramas. Every girl and woman should watch this, especially the mother in laws.
