I would recommend using 1-1/4” Liquid Tight instead of PVC Rigid conduit because of vibration.

Iam a 60yr old man. Master electrician. Been in the field for approx 32 yrs. I install generac generators on a regular basis by myself. No help and no cart. I live in the mountains which makes it even more of a challenge. It is possible with a little thought. A couple of 2" pvc pipes 4ft long, maybe a cumalong to keep it from going down the hill lol.

Found this on the Norwell Power Systems site which gives info on the pipe sizes:


Lifting holes on the front and back of the generator accept a 3/4-inch or 5/8-inch piece pipe. Use two lengths of 60-inch-long, schedule-40, steel pipe inserted through the lifting holes. Locate more people on the heavier end or side so that the group as a whole bears the weight evenly. The pipes act as handles to allow lifting and carrying the generator unit.


Each person should lift using muscles in their legs, not in their back. Bend at the knees (squat), without bending at the back, and grasp the lifting pipe. When everyone is ready, lift the generator straight up and move it to the required location. Set the unit down the same way it was lifted―by bending at the knee and not at the back.

After the generator is resting in its final location, the pipes are withdrawn.

The cowl ring that goes on the bottom of the unit, how do you install and or remove it?

Tell us what size and length anchor bolts you used. I think this is about as important as anything else. I'm over an hour away from the hardware store so making trips to get the correct ones gets annoying and expensive. I'd appreciate it very much, thanks in advance.

Your conduit is going to crack if it hasn’t already due to vibration. You need to use flexible conduit to enter the generator

That installation is actually a NEC violation. Flexible conduit is REQUIRED rather than a rigid connection, as Brigitte recommended. We own a dedicated generator installation company in Miami: Miami Generators/Coral Electric, LLC.
