Compartmental Models in Epidemiology - Maria Gutierrez - The Archimedeans

In this talk, Maria will talk about some basic models that study epidemics. We will start with the SIR model, which some of you may recall from Part II Mathematical Biology. We will come across some concepts, such as the basic reproductive ratio, that might be familiar from the news these days; but the current pandemic will not be our main focus.

The only prerequisite is knowledge on differential equations (in particular, phase portraits). If you like dynamical systems and/or mathematical biology, you will probably enjoy this too.
